OLED technology simply brightens our day. Produced by Sony, an OLED display has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, achieved by the technology that allows pixels to be turned off to create black. But what is insanely cool is that the new OLED displays being shown at D6 (a convention of all things digital) are thinner than credit cards! Yes, thats ridiculous. Expected to come out next year, an 11-inch model can be bought for just $2,500. Yes, ridiculously cool does comes with ridiculous price. From CNet.com.
If you can’t wait, however, there is already a model out by Sony called XEL-1, which is 3 millimeters thick. This display is the first of its kind, and really has all of the features you would want in a huge display, in this tiny package. The XEL-1 is compatible up to 1080p, has 2 HDMI inputs, and even features a memory stick slot so you can view photos. The TV is also really efficient on energy, which makes up for leaving your Playstation 3 running for an hour. Check out the other details at SonyStyle.com.
