As anyone knows, the Wii-mote has its companion called the Nunchuck. Microsoft has their regular, run-of-the-mill controller thats very comfortable. And finally, Sony has its Sixaxis controller with some motion sensing. This all sounds normal. But now, Sony has to go about thinking up things like a “break-apart” controller, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

The controller will split into 2 separate motion-sensing units, for an experience as given with the Wii-mote. We’re not quite sure if this is weird… wait, it is. A controller that you can give pieces to your friends will certainly give Sony the one-up on the Wii’s broad target audience. Get out of here… if the controller is shaped like a boomerang we’ll quit our jobs here. (If it breaks apart, it would look more like a fortune cookie!) Why can’t these companies be original? We’re looking at you, too, Microsoft: MTV News was tipped of the Xbox 360 Wii-mote copy. Nice.
