Some of you might know that E3 just wrapped up last week. We saw some things from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo but nothing spectacular from anyone (unless you think the new Xbox Live will be good). The games we knew about were there, and some that we were kind of hoping for showed up as well. Again, it wasn’t candy-coated and spectacular, which is what we’re used to.
Soulless and lacking an epicenter, the fragmented layout gave no indication whatsoever that we are the fastest growing entertainment medium in the world. While I am not sure I want to revert back to the old days of excess and one-upmanship, I do know that this format isn’t working.
~Peter Moore, EA Sports formerly Microsoft, Edge-Online.com
We miss the old E3 where everything was ridiculously wild. I agree with Moore here, E3 should be representative of the industry – big and booming with life. This years event was boring and quite conservative. Boring. Games aren’t supposed to be boring and corporate. Its a trade event thats the biggest and best, why tune it down? Doesn’t make sense, and we’ll certainly be unhappy if the same shit appears next year.
