The firmware update most Playstation 3 owners are waiting for is coming along nicely, by the looks of it. The folks at the Official Playstation Blog have put up a nice video showing off what the new XMB feature will be like. They are also showing off in-game music features: you’ll be able to shut off in-game soundtrack and listen to your own music. We’ve got the video after the jump.

If this update is really as good as it looks and offers the same streamlined features that the Xbox 360′s Live has, I would say Microsoft is in trouble for people that are willing to make the switch. It seems that Sony is finally looking to get a hand up. I’d say the only thing stopping people from choosing Xbox 360 is its superb Live service. But, Sony seems to be picking up those aspects, and we’ll see a lot from the company soon.
