If you haven’t heard, Rockstar and Take-Two have announced that Grand Theft Auto IV, probably the top game to hit consoles this year, will soon be available to those quietly waiting PC gamers. No word yet on the exact date, but gamers will probably be able to play this game in its full without having to make any adjustments to their systems; the game focuses more on size and the city’s environment than ridiculous graphics.

The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can’t wait for people to play it.

~ Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games

The only question in my mind is this: Does it matter if they release on PC? Of course it matters, but its been a while since the game released on consoles (over 3 months), and we’re certain that most PC gamers have probably played the game on their 360 or PS3. But the PC has one factor that consoles still do not: modding.

Modding, altering game code and changing the environment of the game, is huge with PC games and a big part of seeing what people are capable of doing to a game. Popular “Hot Coffee” mod stirred up amazing amounts of craze and media attention (not to mention some lawsuit action) with its saucy changes in character interaction. I can’t wait to see what gamers make for the upcoming PC release of GTA IV.
