The 2008 Beijing Olympics opens this morning with a spectacular ceremony being performed by amazing musicians, and dancers wearing great Chinese wardrobes and styles. Definitely one of the best opening ceremonies I have witnessed; something about the Chinese culture I am fascinated by, and the Olympic ceremony shows it wonderfully. 15,000 performers and 13 months of rehearsals grace the Beijing opening ceremony.
Heres to kicking off the 2008 Olympics, a hard to find video of the ceremony:
Note: This video might go down, some reports are saying YouTube is pulling a lot of coverage from Beijing. You can read some more information about this superb ceremony on Bloomberg.com. US television have not been showing the live coverage this morning of the opening ceremony, but will be aired tonight at 7:30pm ET on NBC. Hopefully after that we will be able to get a better video. You can also follow all of the Olympic news at NBCOlympics.com.

If you have been able to catch the opening ceremony tonight, I think everyone would have to agree that it was of the utmost quality I have ever seen for any performance. Clearly, the Chinese wanted to be best, and they clearly were tonight. This year’s Olympic opening will not be able to be topped for a long time coming.
I also wanted to say good luck to all of the athletes honoring their country by competing in these traditional games.
