The Consumer Electronics Show 2009 is ready to kick off, starting on Thursday, in Las Vegas Nevada. This show is a highlight for the upcoming year’s gadgets and new technologies that we will be seeing landing in stores soon. What can we expect from this year’s show?
- SuperSpeed USB 3.0: Everyone remembers the big jump once USB 2.0 rolled out with its lightning fast connection speed; but consumers should be getting ready for another quantum leap of speed with the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 specifications. So far little is known, although, we are expected to see up to 100x faster transfer speeds through the new optical USB standard. More power, more speed, definitely leet.
- OLED Technology: A while back we also heard about this new technology that was similar to current LED display technology, only much more compact and less power hungry. So far this technology has been looked at as the future of displays, and we will hopefully see great applications for it. Oh, did we mention that its thin enough to be bendable like paper? Bendable…

- LG GD910 – The Watch Phone: There comes a time when you have to look back at being a kid, back when we pretended that our watch was a walkie-talkie and we walked around like Agent 007 saying “this would be the coolest thing ever.” The coolest thing ever is about to happen. Looking at how far cellphones have come to replace many pocket devices, it is time to make it fashionable by turning our cell phones into watches. Yes, we’ll soon be wearing phones on our wrists. So, so leet.
- Cheaper Technology: As everyone makes the move into HD-technology and interested in certain products, the technology becomes much cheaper. We’re seeing laptops become cheaper and cheaper with the introduction of Netbooks (like the HP Mini 1000), with their average price range of $500 and high-portability, as well as HDTVs that won’t cost you as much, get a great 42-inch HDTV for a price of around $1100 nowadays. Two years ago anything 40-inches and up would have cost you upwards of $3000 easily.
- Too much more to count…
The move to high-definition and digital technology is more apparent now than ever. Not a single device is anything but high-definition, and soon it will be hard to find any new gadgets that are your typical old-technology. Good, thats the way it should be.
